Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference this summer by supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)! This contract role is designed for professionals dedicated to helping students with visual impairments achieve academic and life skills success. The position is based in a specialized educational environment focused on serving students with significant behavioral and physical challenges. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team while providing direct instruction and tailored support for the Extended School Year session.
Key Qualifications:
Valid certification and credentialing as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) or Blind/Visually Impaired (BVI) Experience working with school-aged children or adolescents with visual impairments Confidence and skills in adapting instruction for students with severe behavioral and physical disabilities Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with educational staff, families, and related therapists
Role Overview:
Provide direct instruction and consultative support for a caseload of 10-15 students within one building Work Monday through Thursday, 8:45 AM to 12:45 PM, totaling 20 hours per week Employ evidence-based teaching strategies to promote independence and learning in core academic and functional areas Adapt curriculum and materials to meet each student's unique needs Deliver progress monitoring, documentation, and participate in team meetings as required Support a positive, inclusive environment while navigating the unique challenges of a setting 4 district This summer assignment offers a structured schedule and an opportunity to create meaningful impact in a collaborative, specialized setting.
