Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a real impact in the lives of students by bringing your passion and expertise in special education to an innovative school setting near Burnsville, MN. These contract opportunities offer varied experiences working with different student populations and educational models, ensuring every day brings new rewards and learning.
Available Positions Include:
A cross-categorical role blending case management and direct instruction for a caseload of 14 students, teaching three periods focused on social and emotional skills and academic support (Strategies), one period of Reading (with curriculum provided), and a Transitions class tailored to enhancing leisure skills and social development for students with higher ASD needs. A center-based assignment within a dedicated program serving students primarily identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This classroom emphasizes communication strategies, sensory regulation, and positive behavior supports aimed at replacing inappropriate behaviors with functional communication skills. Another center-based placement designed for students with Emotional Behavior Disorders and/or Other Health Disabilities. The primary focus is on building emotional regulation, social abilities, and foundational classroom skills. The teacher will lead all academic content delivery, especially for those not yet ready to integrate into general education environments, ensuring each student receives instruction geared toward their current needs.
Qualifications & Desired Experiences:
Valid special education teaching license (open to any licensure status; tier 3 or 4 preferred) Experience working with diverse and complex student needs, including ASD and behavior disorders Strong commitment to fostering communication, social skills, and regulation strategies Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet unique learning goals Collaborative mindset, open to working alongside other educators and specialists
