About Paladin:
Paladin is a forward-thinking, tuition-free public charter high school catering to grades 9-12+. Position Objective:
The Special Education Teacher will provide direct instruction, case management, evaluation support, IEP development, progress monitoring, and collaborative student support for students receiving special education services. This position plays an important role in helping students access academic learning, develop confidence, build skills, and move toward successful graduation and postsecondary goal
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conducts assessments for students who are being evaluated for special education services. Develops Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) for all eligible students; including data collection for progress reports and present levels of academic and functional performance. Provides overall case management for students assigned to their caseload Maintains due process records adhering to timelines put forth by MDE and the Special Education Director (IEPs, progress reports, and evaluation reports) Provides ongoing academic support to students in coordination with the general education teacher(s) in a Project-Based Learning, Experiential Learning, and Work-Based Learning environment. Plans and facilitates parent and/or staff meetings as needed. Stays current on all special education legislation, laws, procedures, and policies. Prepares and executes project and student success plans in accordance with administrative guidelines on a weekly or monthly basis. Establishes and maintains a positive interpersonal relationship with all students, staff, parents/guardians, and the community. Attends in-service training, conferences, staff meetings, and parent meetings as required. Adheres to Total Special Education Systems (TSES) Manual in accordance with MN law. Coordinates service times with related service providers and general education teacher(s). Collaborate with team members on service delivery, due process, and student schedules. Create a flexible, supportive, and student-centered learning community. Maintain confidentiality of all information regarding students. Other High level of patience and ability to calmly and clearly redirect and guide high school age students Demonstrate superior judgment in all aspects of work. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also being a strong team player. Familiarity and comfort with electronic forms of communication, including ready access and responsiveness to e-mail correspondence Be a part of a team driving. Executive Director Experience and Qualifications:
Possess an appropriate MN Teaching License in Special Education (any disability area) Experience in the following areas is preferred, but not required. Additional training will be provided. Must possess and display excellent human relations skills when dealing with staff, students, and the school community. Ability to get along with other people, work cooperatively in team situations, and have patience in dealing with parents and students. Ability to work with physically, behaviorally, and/or emotionally impaired students. Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions. Ability to communicate effectively and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to be flexible, have strong organizational skills, and be punctual. Ability to understand and follow data privacy rules and regulations related to students. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos, including the use of email, Internet navigation, and Google Workspace. Passion for diversity and equity High level of patience and ability to calmly and clearly redirect and guide high school-age students. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while also being a strong team player. Salary and Benefits:
Salary is dependent on education and years of experience in the field. Paladin offers a salary and benefits package that is competitive with surrounding school districts in the area, including: Employee health, dental, life, short-term, and long-term disability insurance. Dependent coverage is available at group rate costs. As a public school, Teachers Retirement Association (TRA) or Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) is included within the benefits package. •A reimbursement program for post-secondary education and training is available for qualifying employees.•
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to walk throughout a building and may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance or push up to 90 pounds, and may be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed to support students and school operations. Commitment to
