Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Empower young learners in a dynamic elementary special education environment, supporting students with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) in a structured classroom setting. This full-time contract role is based in a center-focused classroom designed for elementary students (grades 3-5), where academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development are at the forefront. You'll collaborate with a dedicated support team, providing targeted interventions and creating a positive, inclusive learning atmosphere.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching License (required) EBD licensure is highly desired Demonstrated experience in center-based or high-needs behavioral settings Proficiency in developing and executing IEPs and BIPs, monitoring progress, and implementing classroom interventions Well-versed in classroom management and effective behavior de-escalation strategies Clear and empathetic communication skills, thriving in a collaborative team environment
Preferred:
Experience with Setting III/center-based classrooms, PBIS, CPI, and trauma-informed practices Background working with elementary behavioral caseloads is a plus
Role Responsibilities:
Lead instruction and interventions for a small group (approximately six students) in a center-based EBD program Develop, update, and carry out Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) Provide direct academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support in cooperation with classroom support staff Monitor student progress, adapt strategies, and maintain thorough documentation Foster a classroom culture based on respect, engagement, and positive reinforcement Communicate and collaborate with families, staff, and related service providers Step into a highly supportive setting with Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM hours, perfect for educators passionate about making a measurable impact in students' lives.
