Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract A rewarding opportunity is available for a passionate Special Education Teacher specializing in Developmental Cognitive Disabilities. This full-time, contract role runs from the end of February through June 4, 2027, and is based in a vibrant K-2 elementary setting. You'll work with a manageable caseload of approximately 10 students, helping them achieve academic and social success in an inclusive, supportive environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Key Qualifications:
Current, valid Minnesota teaching license in Special Education with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities credential Experience working with early elementary students (K-2) preferred Strong understanding of individualized education program (IEP) development and implementation Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction for diverse learning needs Excellent communication and collaboration skills Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom community
Position Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted instruction and support for students with developmental cognitive disabilities Develop, review, and implement IEPs in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams Monitor student progress and document outcomes Employ evidence-based teaching strategies to promote student engagement and growth Collaborate closely with general education teachers and support staff Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student achievements and areas of need Participate actively in professional development and relevant school meetings This contract role offers a unique chance to make a lasting difference for young learners in a supportive school atmosphere.
