POSITION TITLE
Special Education Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS
Current state teaching certificate in Special Education. Positive interpersonal skills. Demonstrated team building skills.. Knowledge of the Special Education process and laws. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills, time management, and telephone skills. Computer skills and knowledge of assistive technology are desired.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides for safety and security of individuals Follow School procedures when dealing with an emergency situation including calling 911, insuring the safety of the individuals, notifying supervisor Maintains assigned space in a clean and orderly manner Attend all team meetings/staffings as required. Completes paperwork and documentation as assigned Provide instruction and supervision for the students in the classroom Prepare materials for IEP Maintain regular contact with families Work with the children in the classroom both 1:1 or in groups Assist the student in daily living and educational tasks, including structured teaching strategies, assistance with toileting and feeding if needed, promote communication skills and social skills as indicated by the student's IEP and objectives Interact with all of the students in a therapeutic and positive manner Other duties as assigned by supervisor
