Job Description

Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting a young elementary student as a 1:1 paraprofessional utilizing American Sign Language skills for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time position runs from early September through early June, and is based in Forest Lake, MN. You will play a vital role in helping a child, recently transitioned from Kindergarten, access his education through signed communication as part of his individualized education plan.
Ideal fit:
Experience as a paraprofessional in school settings, especially supporting elementary-age students Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (candidates with basic knowledge must show motivation to continue learning) Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the student's IEP team Eagerness to create a nurturing, inclusive, and communicative environment Comfortable commuting to Forest View ES within the large Forest Lake area Prepared to consistently work a 35-hour week throughout the school year Role responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support for an elementary student, focusing on ASL communication throughout the school day Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and the IEP team to deliver modifications and accommodations Foster a positive, engaged learning experience in the mainstream classroom and special education settings Record observations and share student progress related to communication goals Make a lasting difference in a child's early education journey by using your ASL skills to help them thrive in school.
