Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a fulfilling role supporting high school students as a Special Education Teacher at a vibrant community school. This contract opportunity places you at the heart of 9th-12th grade classrooms where you'll work onsite with a diverse caseload, providing individualized instruction and tailored behavioral supports. Engage in meaningful collaboration with staff focused on meeting the needs of at-risk learners. The school actively encourages professional growth and offers support for Out of Field Licensure Placement if needed.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Minnesota teaching license in EBD, ASD, or ABS (or eligible for Out of Field Placement) Experience supporting at-risk students in an educational setting Demonstrated ability to provide strong behavior interventions and support Collaborative spirit and comfort working closely with multidisciplinary teams Commitment to fostering an inclusive, engaging learning environment
Main Responsibilities:
Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with varying abilities and needs Deliver engaging instruction and differentiate curriculum to maximize student growth Collaborate with general education staff, support personnel, and families Apply evidence-based behavioral interventions and classroom management techniques Track student progress, prepare documentation, and participate actively in team meetings Advocate for student needs and contribute to a positive school climate This contract runs from August 31, 2026, through June 4, 2027, with teaching hours from 7:15 am to 3:15 pm, Monday through Friday, and a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
