Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting K-5 students in a dynamic educational environment! This contract role is perfect for a dedicated Special Education Teacher eager to make an impact within a French Immersion program—fluency in French is not required. Based near Liberty, MO, and serving a single site in the Kansas City area, this position offers the chance to focus fully on a diverse, mixed caseload, providing meaningful support to students throughout the academic year.
Key Qualifications:
Current and valid SPED (Special Education) certification Previous experience teaching or supporting students in special education settings, preferably with mixed caseloads Strong skills in developing and implementing IEPs for elementary-aged children Solid understanding of differentiated instruction and behavior management strategies Excellent communication abilities with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams Passion for fostering inclusive learning environments
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to students with a broad range of learning abilities and needs Adapt lesson plans and instructional materials to accommodate learners in K-5 Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, support staff, and parents, ensuring student needs are fully met Conduct ongoing assessments and maintain thorough student records in accordance with required timelines Implement classroom management techniques to support a positive and productive learning space This role runs from August 11, 2026, to May 28, 2027, with a Monday through Friday schedule, eight hours each day.
