Job Description
The Macon Area Career and Technical Education Center (MACTEC) is now accepting applications for a Family and Consumer Science Teacher for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
This position includes an additional Extra Duty stipend for FCCLA Advisor
The Family & Consumer Sciences (FACS) Teacher provides high-quality, standards-based instruction in Career & Technical Education pathways related to family and consumer sciences. The teacher prepares students for college, careers, and lifelong success by delivery hands-on, project-based learning experiences aligned to state CTE standards and industry expectations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
Valid DESE issued Missouri Teaching Certificate or Certification in progress to be considered
Positive interpersonal relationship skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of digital resources, tools, and instructional applications
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides instruction to students using effective instructional strategies.
Participates in curriculum review and design.
Creates and implements a classroom disciplinary plan.
Creates lesson plans and activities to implement and supplement instruction.
Monitors student progress and adjusts instruction accordingly.
Participates in building, grade level and/or subject area committees.
Participates in professional development activities.
Maintains accurate student records including attendance, grades, and discipline.
Completes and submits forms and required reports in a timely manner.
Communicates regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns.
Reports suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, and harassment as directed by Board policy.
Prepares lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher.
Attends established traditional school-sponsored activities (e.g., Back-to-School Night, Open House, programs, activities, and faculty meetings).
Assumes other duties as assigned.
