The Junior College of Kansas City, as it was known starting in 1919, was one of the first schools in the country to award an associate degree. Today, MCC offers 125 associate degree and certificate programs. Metropolitan Community College comprises five campuses on the Missouri side of the Greater Kansas City area 47 major buildings and about 550 acres in all: MCC-Blue River , located in Independence, Missouri; MCC-Longview located in Lee's Summit, Missouri, MCC-Maple Woods located in the Northland of Kansas City, Missouri; MCC-Online and MCC-Penn Valley , located in Midtown Kansas City, Missouri. Job Summary Incumbents coordinate and supervise the day-to-day functions of the Learning Center and ensure appropriate academic support is available to students. Essential Functions Supervise staff to include prioritizing and assigning work; approving time sheets; conducting performance evaluations; coordinating staff training; and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures Manage the operations of an assigned center to include managing schedules of the Center, tutor, and staff; communicating with and responding to complaints from students, staff, and faculty; addressing student, tutor, faculty, and other relevant stakeholder needs; and providing referrals Manage Supplemental Instruction and Embedded tutor programs Monitor progress of students and develops new programs and services, including workshops, presentations, and tutor programs, to support student academic success; work may involve collaborating with faculty and other student services staff to coordinate and facilitate operations Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, administrators, and other internal and external personnel, departments, and/or agencies, and attend committee and other meetings, conferences, and workshops, to address student needs and academic deficiencies, improve process delivery, communicate information, represent the department, provide recommendations, remain current on new practices and trends, establish partnerships, and/or facilitate daily departmental operations Prepare, review, and maintain reports, records, and other documentation to improve the quality of learning center service; work may involve collecting and analyzing data, to facilitate scheduling and program development activities Maintain the department inventory and manages the departmental budget, to include inspecting inventories, maintaining accurate reports, approving purchase requests, preparing cost estimates, and managing expenditures Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree• Two (2) years teaching, learning or training related experience •Minimum Education Qualification can be substituted with an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree preferred

Physical Requirements Positions in this class typically require grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
