Job Description

St. Francis Borgia Grade School - Washington, MO Part-Time | 25 Hours Per Week St. Francis Borgia Grade School is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and student-centered Part-Time Special Education Teacher to join our Catholic school community. This position is ideal for an educator who is passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs and helping each child grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. At St. Francis Borgia Grade School, we believe every student is a valued child of God with unique gifts, strengths, and potential. The Special Education Teacher will play an important role in providing targeted academic support, specialized instruction, accommodations, interventions, and collaborative services that help students succeed. Position Summary The Special Education Teacher provides direct support and specialized instruction to students with individualized learning needs through small-group, one-on-one, push-in, and pull-out services. This role works closely with classroom teachers, families, school administration, Care Team members, and local school districts to develop and implement meaningful support plans aligned with student needs. The ideal candidate will be organized, collaborative, flexible, and knowledgeable in best practices for special education, differentiated instruction, intervention, progress monitoring, and inclusive classroom support. Key Responsibilities Provide direct instruction to students with individualized learning needs in small-group and one-on-one settings Coordinate and deliver push-in and pull-out services aligned with student learning plans and areas of identified need Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans, Individualized Service Plans, or school-based learning plans as appropriate Create individualized, data-informed goals and learning strategies in collaboration with faculty, families, Care Teams, and local school districts Collaborate with general education teachers to support differentiated instruction, inclusive practices, accommodations, modifications, and behavior interventions Support teachers in understanding and applying best practices in special education, intervention, and inclusive classroom support Conduct assessments, review diagnostic tools, analyze student data, and use classroom observations to guide instruction and interventions Monitor student progress and evaluate the effectiveness of services and instructional supports Maintain clear, accurate, confidential, and secure records of student progress, evaluations, services, and communications Lead or participate in student-centered meetings, including IEP, ISP, learning plan, Care Team, and parent meetings Communicate proactively and professionally with parents, teachers, administrators, and service providers regarding student progress and needs Demonstrate a strong understanding of students on caseload and actively contribute to planning and service delivery Maintain current knowledge of federal, state, and Archdiocesan guidance related to special education, learning plans, and student support services Assist in creating a positive, supportive, inclusive, and faith-filled learning environment Supervise, train, or support paraprofessionals in implementing specialized lesson plans and student supports when needed Participate in professional development and remain current in special education best practices Identify and use diverse resources to support student growth, teacher support, and professional learning Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field required Master's degree preferred Valid state teaching certification in Special Education required Experience working with students with diverse learning needs Strong knowledge of IEP development, accommodations, modifications, interventions, progress monitoring, and instructional strategies Ability to adapt instruction to meet a wide range of student abilities Ability to guide and support others in carrying out instructional strategies and accommodations Strong collaboration, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with assessment tools and data-driven instruction Experience supporting inclusive classroom practices Experience using strategies to support diverse learners Ability to coach and collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff Background working with IEPs, ISPs, 504 Plans, or school-based learning plans Work Schedule Part-time position Approximately 25 hours per week Schedule to be determined based on student needs and the school calendar Physical Requirements Ability to work with students in classroom, small-group, and one-on-one settings Ability to move throughout the school building during the day Occasional standing, walking, lifting, and supervision in a variety of school settings, including classrooms, hallways, recess, and special classes Why Join St. Francis Borgia Grade School?
