07/01/2021 Job title: Dyslexia Interventionist/Teacher Reports to: Principal Receives guidance from: Principal, Director, District Administration and Support Staff, Assistant Superintendent Overtime status: Compliant with position, salary and FLSA regulations Job purpose: In keeping a tradition of excellence, the Dyslexia Interventionist/Teacher will support students by providing dyslexia intervention to identified students with dyslexia. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Duties and responsibilities:
Apply knowledge of federal, state, and district procedures concerning dyslexia for general and special education Instruct and evaluate students with dyslexia in any phase of the program Provide leadership to teachers in English/Language Arts and Reading Instruction Assist teachers in utilizing effective reading practices within the classroom setting Provide instructional support and/or direct instruction for students with dyslexia Provide general education students, special education students, and students with a 504 with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth Develop or modify curriculum and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels Lead and attend staff meetings/trainings as applicable; serve on staff committees Maintain and accept responsibility for any district owned fixed asset item assigned to employee and ensure appropriate use by following district policies for acceptable use Undergo periodic evaluations according to state and board policy procedures Maintain confidentiality Regular, dependable attendance is an essential function of this position Perform such other and not specifically enumerated duties as may be requested by the Board of Education, superintendent, administrator, director or established by district policy Read, understand, and abide by Employee Conduct Policy, GAB, all other District, State and Federal policies, and procedures and protocols as established by RCSD and the
Mississippi Educator Code of Conduct Qualifications:
Education Level:
Master's degree or higher
Certifications:
 MS Certified teaching license and minimum of 5+ years teaching experience in English/Language Arts or Reading as a teacher proven to grow students; certification as a Certified Academic Language Therapist is encouraged Other requirements: Enrolled in an IHL program to obtain a 203 teaching endorsement or currently hold a 203 endorsement

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
