Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role supporting students at both the high school and elementary levels as a Special Education Teacher in a full-time contract position. This opportunity offers the chance to make a direct and lasting impact on the lives of children with special needs, within two classrooms designed for small-group instruction and individualized attention. The high school classroom serves approximately 12 students (typically 8-9) and provides an environment where your expertise in special education can help each student grow academically and socially. At the elementary level, you'll work with around 6 students and have the added support of two dedicated assistants, ensuring that every child receives the care and attention they need to thrive.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid EMD (Educable Mentally Disabled) License required Previous experience working as a Special Education Teacher in school settings Confidence in developing and implementing IEPs tailored to individual student needs Strong classroom management and communication skills Ability to collaborate with assistants, staff, and families to create a positive, inclusive learning environment Commitment to maintaining compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations
Key Responsibilities:
Design and deliver customized lessons to support diverse learning styles and abilities Monitor and document student progress, adjusting teaching plans as needed Engage in ongoing communication with families regarding student growth and challenges Work closely with classroom assistants to optimize support for each student Participate in professional development opportunities and staff meetings Immerse yourself in a role that values dedication, compassion, and expertise.
