A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

This position requires an active teaching license in MS with experience working with the intellectually disabled preferably with a 221 endorsement. Provide therapeutic individualized education in an age-appropriate manner. Complete required documentation in a timely manner. Participate in Treatment Team/Multidisciplinary Team meetings and ensure all relevant documentation is completed in a timely manner. Demonstrate knowledge of application of relevant state/federal laws, The Joint Commission standards, and other regulatory agency standards in regards to Millcreek School. Accept assignments and other duties as designated by the principal. Provide care and/or conducts patient/resident interactions in an age/cultural appropriate manner. Follows all safety policies and adheres to all workers' compensation program guidelines. Other duties as assigned.
