Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make an impact in the lives of students as a Special Education Teacher on a contract basis for the upcoming academic year in a supportive educational setting near Roxie, MS. This full-time opportunity offers a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week, allowing you to engage deeply with students and contribute to their academic and personal growth.
Qualifications:
Valid EMD (Emotional/Multiple Disabilities) license required Previous experience in Special Education classrooms strongly preferred Familiarity with accommodating diverse learning needs and developing individualized education plans (IEPs) Strong communication and collaboration skills, especially with paraprofessionals and resource staff Ability to create a nurturing, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
Responsibilities:
Lead instructional activities for approximately 12 high school students, and a separate elementary classroom with about 6 students supported by 2 classroom assistants Develop and implement IEPs tailored to each student's abilities and needs Collaborate with classroom assistants, staff, and families to coordinate student development, support behaviors, and monitor progress Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes emotional, social, and academic growth Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate regularly with relevant parties
