Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Ignite change in students' lives while advancing your own career as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive school environment. This full-time contract position (37.5 hours per week) offers opportunities to make a meaningful impact at both the high school and elementary levels. You'll work closely with a dedicated team, including classroom assistants in the elementary setting, to provide personalized learning experiences. With small caseloads—approximately 12 high school students and 6 elementary students—you can truly focus on individualized instruction, fostering growth, and building strong relationships.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid EMD license (required) Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher in a school setting is highly valued Ability to create engaging, differentiated lesson plans Strong organizational and communication skills Passion for supporting students with diverse and unique learning needs Collaborative spirit to work effectively with general education staff, classroom assistants, and families
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet diverse student abilities Oversee instructional activities in classroom settings, partnering with assistants Assess student progress and adjust intervention strategies as needed Foster a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere and ensure a safe learning environment Collaborate with parents, support staff, and external professionals to provide holistic support Your expertise and dedication will help ensure students gain the tools and confidence to succeed.
