Job Summary Join our dedicated team as a Special Education Teacher specializing in supporting students from kindergarten through fifth grade within an autism-focused school environment. In this role, you will create a nurturing, inclusive classroom that fosters growth, independence, and confidence for children with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. Your expertise will help implement individualized education plans (IEPs), utilize innovative teaching strategies, and promote positive behavior management to ensure every student reaches their full potential. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners while working in a dynamic, supportive setting. Responsibilities Develop and implement engaging, evidence-based lesson plans tailored to meet the unique needs of students with autism and other developmental disabilities. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and behavioral specialists—to support student progress across communication, social skills, and academic domains. Create a structured classroom environment that promotes positive behavior management and supports sensory needs through effective behavioral therapy techniques. Adapt curriculum content to incorporate educational technology tools that enhance learning experiences and foster literacy and math skills. Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress using standardized testing methods and update IEPs accordingly to ensure personalized educational goals are met. Provide direct instruction in core subjects such as literacy education, math, and communication skills while integrating early intervention strategies for young learners. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Childhood Development, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Proven experience working with children with disabilities, particularly those on the autism spectrum or with neurodevelopmental disorders. Familiarity with speech therapy practices, behavioral health approaches, and educational technology integration is highly desirable. Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, families, and support staff. Demonstrated ability to create inclusive classroom environments that foster social-emotional growth and academic achievement. Creativity and flexibility a must. Patience and compassion is required. Collaboration with RBTs, BCBA's and other therapists expected.
