FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to provide leadership and instruction to develop, implement, and sustain a quality Magnet program at Jones Elementary School. This position assists teachers and administrators in the curriculum, instruction, assessment, and organizational goals of the School's Magnet Program•.
•The mission of the Jones Magnet Program of Global Scholars is to develop students who understand themselves and their role within their school, local, and global communities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and teach units reflecting the Jones magnet theme (K-5)
Collaborate with school staff to develop and implement curriculum-related theme(s) integration across the disciplines, including school-wide thematic units and service learning projects. Provide daily direct instruction to students (K-5).
Support a culturally responsive school/community climate in which students feel safe and engaged.
Coordinate enrichment activities such as field trips, speakers, and educational presentations aligned to the school's magnet theme, and which support school/district goals.
Performs other related duties as assigned, including attending required professional learning opportunities.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the District and School policies, procedures, and standards.
Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of existing programs and make recommendations for improvement.
Ability to work effectively with students and staff.
Ability to effectively present information to faculty, staff, students, and parents.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Proficient in Google Apps for Education and current digital tools and technology. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Minimum:
Bachelor's Degree in Education
Desirable:
Master's Degree in Education and two years of Magnet School teaching and/or coordinator experience.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Valid NC Teachers License
