A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students in a self-contained, non-severe classroom setting Adapt instructional strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities Collaborate closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff Track student progress and communicate effectively with parents and the broader educational team Foster an inclusive, welcoming, and positive classroom environment Participate in professional development and school meetings as requiredDesired Experience & Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain in North Carolina) Previous experience teaching at the middle school level strongly preferred Familiarity with case management and documentation for special education students Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic classroom environmentWhy This Opportunity Stands Out:
