Job Description

Provide special education services to children identified as Exceptional in accordance with NC state guidelines. Implement the student's IEP plan in the classroom setting in order for them to successfully meet their IEP goals. Provide special education instruction to students by utilizing a variety of teaching methods to meet student's educational needs and adapt and develop instructional materials accordingly. Act as case coordinator for assigned students and maintain their records in compliance with NC law. Teach in the learning lab, do student check-ins, co-teach as needed, and complete IEPs. Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education
REQUIRED
  • Certification/License in Exceptional Children
REQUIRED
  • One or more years' experience teaching students with disabilities in grades 9-12
  • Experience implementing and managing IEP and 504 programs for students
  • Ability to create multi-tiered system of support for students
  • Extensive knowledge of special education needs of students Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction learning.
Develops aligned lesson plans and instructional materials into learning experiences that challenge students and best utilize the available time for instruction. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress. Modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs. Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by school procedures and applicable laws. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and families. Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees. We are seeking candidates with the following qualities: Creative, out of the box thinking. Collaborative approach to planning, instruction, and assessment. Excited about teaching students of all levels in a unique learning environment. Problem solving approach to issues and barriers encountered in the classroom and school community.
