If you're passionate about special education and eager to contribute to students' academic and social-emotional success, this contract position is a fantastic fit for you. We're seeking dedicated Special Education professionals to support students across multiple K-8 settings, including both inclusion and resource classrooms. You'll play a central part in implementing a new Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program, helping students learn and thrive both academically and personally. With manageable caseloads—typically 15-20 students (25 maximum)—your expertise will reach those who need it most, particularly learners performing around three grade levels below their peers. What we're looking for: Valid North Carolina General Curriculum certification for K-12 in Special Education (required) Experience working with K-8 students in special education settings, particularly in inclusion and resource models Familiarity and interest in social-emotional learning initiatives Strong communication and collaborative skills for working with multidisciplinary teams Commitment to differentiated instruction and individualized support plans Key responsibilities: Develop, implement, and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student Provide targeted instruction focused on both academic and social-emotional development Collaborate closely with general education teachers, aides, and support staff Communicate progress and strategies with families and caregivers Take an active role in the launch and ongoing development of the new SEL program This is a chance to make a profound difference in the lives of children while gaining experience in innovative educational programming.
