Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Key Qualifications:
Valid and active North Carolina Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) license/certification required Experience working with visually impaired students preferred Ability to tailor instruction for learners with diverse needs and abilities Strong collaboration and communication skills with staff, students, and families Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in adaptive technologies and accessible materials Comfortable committing to a 37.5-hour week on campus
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments Deliver direct instruction in expanded core curriculum areas, including Braille, assistive technology, and orientation/mobility Consult with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure accessible learning environments Provide ongoing assessment and documentation of student progress Advocate for student needs within multidisciplinary IEP teams Support families in understanding resources and reinforcing learning strategies at home Enjoy working in a supportive and collaborative educational setting focused on student achievement.
