Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make an impact supporting students with visual impairments by bringing your expertise as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to a vibrant educational community near Matthews, NC. This full-time, contract position is set for the 2026/2027 school year and offers the opportunity to provide specialized instruction and guidance to students, empowering them to achieve their fullest potential. Your knowledge and proficiency will foster independence and success for visually impaired students, working collaboratively with educators and families. Your O&M (Orientation & Mobility) endorsement is essential for this role, enabling you to address a broad spectrum of student needs within a dynamic team environment.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Valid TVI certification with relevant credentials Orientation & Mobility (O&M) Endorsement required Experience working in school settings with students who have visual impairments Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to develop and implement individualized educational programs (IEPs) Passion for fostering inclusivity and student independence
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in classroom and one-on-one settings Assess student needs and develop appropriate learning materials and accommodations Collaborate with other teachers, therapists, and support staff Offer guidance and support to classroom teachers regarding accessible materials and methods Conduct O&M training to help students safely navigate their environments Monitor progress and revise instructional approaches as needed Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to ongoing student assessments Bring your dedication to teaching and expertise in serving the visually impaired to a supportive and forward-thinking educational environment.
