Job Description

Make a meaningful impact as a contract Special Education Teacher in the Statesville area, working with dedicated teams to support middle and high school students with special needs. This full-time opportunity runs from August 13, 2026, through June 3, 2027, following a Monday through Friday schedule, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, for up to 40 hours weekly. You'll work with a caseload of 15-18 students with diverse learning requirements, focusing on those with high levels of autism who follow an extended content standard curriculum. Bring your expertise to adaptive and inclusive environments across several school settings. Whether you're guiding students at an innovative discovery school or providing essential support within inclusion/resource models, your commitment ensures meaningful educational experiences.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
Valid Adapted Curriculum Special Education Teaching License (required for Discovery School) Experience with students on the autism spectrum, especially those following extended content standards Proficient in working with both middle and high school students Familiarity with inclusive classrooms, resource, and adapted curriculum settings Strong collaboration skills with special education and general education staff, therapists, and families Excellent organizational and communication abilities
Key Responsibilities:
