Immediately Job Description Position Summary The Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) Coordinator provides leadership and coordination of the district's AIG program to ensure quality, equity, and compliance with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) standards. The coordinator supports the identification and service of gifted students, promotes differentiated instruction, and collaborates with schools and families to enhance learning opportunities for advanced learners across Edgecombe County Public Schools. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, update, and monitor implementation of the district's AIG Plan in accordance with NCDPI guidelines. Coordinate the identification and placement of AIG students using multiple criteria and equitable practices. Collaborate with principals and teachers to support appropriate instructional services and differentiation for AIG students. Provide professional development on gifted education, differentiation, and enrichment strategies. Ensure compliance with state and local requirements related to AIG programming, identification, and reporting. Collect and analyze student and program data to guide decision-making and continuous improvement. Serve as liaison between schools, families, and the community to promote awareness and advocacy for advanced learners. Lead the district's AIG advisory committee and prepare reports required by NCDPI. Manage AIG instructional resources, budgets, and materials effectively. Support equity initiatives to improve identification and services for underrepresented populations of gifted learners. Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required. Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience required. Experience in gifted education or enrichment instruction preferred.
Licensure:
Valid North Carolina Professional Educator's License required. Must hold or be eligible for the Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) add-on licensure issued by NCDPI. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of gifted education principles, NCDPI AIG Program Standards, and differentiation best practices. Ability to provide instructional leadership and support to teachers and administrators. Strong skills in organization, data analysis, and communication. Commitment to equity and access for diverse student populations. Working Conditions Office and school-based work environments with travel between sites. Occasional evening or weekend meetings may be required. Terms of Employment 10-month position. Evaluation Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy and district procedures for licensed personnel.
