Vocational Education Skills Training Program (18- to 21-year-old transition program for students with special services). Responsible for planning instruction and/or adoption of the education and community programming to enable students to transition from school to work using hands-on experiences.Responsibilities:
Plans a program of study which meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the student. Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, community partners, parents, and students. Counsels individuals and groups of students with special services regarding educational, occupational and personal needs. Coordinates and supervises work experience and on-campus job-training programs for the program participants. Collaborates with the Work Experience Educator on job placements and supervision. Plans curriculum, lessons, and special education programs and teaching methods in coordination with the community integration. Evaluates student progress based on papers submitted, test scores and observation. Prepares report cards, progress reports, observations and maintenance of Procedural Safeguards (as required by IDEIA). Maintains physical environment of the classroom. Maintains contact with parents of students. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law and district policy. Assists the student in making a realistic assessment of his abilities and in establishing educational and occupational goals in keeping with their abilities. Assists in screening, evaluating and recommending placements of students in the school's InVEST program. Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district. Ensures a safe, pleasant, and effective educational atmosphere, provides discipline as necessary, and enforces school policy.Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in education with credential in at least one area of special education Minimum of two years successful classroom teaching experience working with high school age students with disabilities. Skill and experience using various technology devices and programs. ND Teaching License with Intellectual Disabilities endorsement and/or Vocational Education certification. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Applied communications is an integral part of the curriculum. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plan and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Applied mathematics is integral. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication. Ability to demonstrate at the computer is necessary. Trouble shooting the equipment is also a performed strength.Desirable Qualifications:
Evidence of professional growth by attendance at workshops, special classes, and formal schooling related to the field.
