Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by supporting the unique needs of visually impaired learners in a collaborative educational environment. This contract opportunity offers the chance to serve as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) for the 2026-2027 school year, within a dynamic education cooperative setting. With a 1.4 FTE allocation, you will impact students across multiple districts, helping ensure equitable access to instruction and resources.
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) Experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired or blind Comfortable adapting curriculum, materials, and technology for diverse learning needs Effective communication, consultative, and advocacy skills with students, families, and educational staff Skilled in conducting functional vision assessments and developing individualized education plans (IEPs) Ability to travel periodically between school sites within the cooperative
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, using varied instructional strategies and adaptive resources Collaborate with general and special education staff to modify classroom materials and environments for accessibility Advise and coach classroom teachers on inclusion techniques and accommodations Assess students' visual needs and document progress toward IEP goals Communicate proactively with families, therapists, and multi-disciplinary teams to coordinate services Support students' transitions and orientation/mobility goals as appropriate This role offers a rewarding chance to build impactful relationships while increasing educational accessibility.
