Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a fulfilling role supporting young learners as an Elementary Special Education Teacher serving grades K-6. In this full-time, contract opportunity, you'll have the chance to make a direct impact in a typical special education classroom, fostering growth and development for students with diverse learning needs. Your expertise will be essential in designing and implementing individualized lesson plans, as well as crafting a supportive environment that encourages student success. You'll collaborate closely with families, fellow educators, and support staff, ensuring that every child receives the tailored services they need.
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching certification appropriate for elementary grades (K-6). Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher in a K-6 setting is highly valued. Ability to effectively conduct, write, and manage IEP meetings and documents. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Passion for advocating for students with exceptional needs.
Core Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction to K-6 students within a dedicated special education classroom setting. Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for assigned students. Hold and participate in IEP meetings with parents, guardians, and multidisciplinary teams. Assess student progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet evolving needs. Collaborate with classroom teachers and ancillary support personnel. Foster an inclusive, positive, and encouraging learning environment.
