Job Description

The Granite YMCA is hiring a Behavior Support Specialist that will act as a vital Early Learning support position for our YMCA of Downtown Manchester location. This position supports staff in managing child behavior with the goal of helping children build relationships, follow the rules, and stay engaged in program. The Specialist will act as a subject matter expert in addressing children's individual needs, while serving as a coach for classroom teachers for building behavior management skills.
Responsibilities:
Support training and coaching of teachers on behavior management strategies to create classroom success Continually implement and role model appropriate behavior management strategies Support teachers in discreetly implementing success and safety plans in the group; review details of contract with teachers; visit group periodically to observe compliance Provide recommendations for proper disciplinary procedures following YMCA standards Supervise children who need support due to elevated challenges in social-emotional wellbeing Provide a physically and psychologically safe environment and atmosphere for children Maintain an attitude of positive flexibility to meet the childcare program needs Continually model and teach character development and Y core value qualities Maintain an effective working relationship with other staff utilizing positive communication strategies and participate in activities when available
Qualifications:
3-5 years' experience working with children in a licensed program and supporting teachers preferred Related college credits and/or certifications preferred Possess strong organizational and group management skills Proficient use of Word, Excel and Outlook and general computer and tablet functions Previous experience with diverse populations This is a full-time hourly position with a pay range of $19 - $21hr.
