Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding full-time contract opportunity dedicated to supporting students' growth and academic success. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive educational services for learners with diverse needs. This 40-hour per week assignment is based near Edison, NJ, offering you the chance to make a significant difference in students' lives throughout the school year. Your role will include conducting thorough educational evaluations and effectively managing a caseload of 30-40 students. You'll be responsible for crafting and implementing individualized education plans, collaborating closely with parents, teachers, and support staff, and ensuring compliance with all required documentation. During the initial six weeks, some days may extend to 4:30 pm, though the standard hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. There may also be occasional early release times on Fridays, but you can generally expect a consistent weekly schedule.
Requirements:
Valid New Jersey Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant Certification is required Experience as a Special Education Teacher within a school setting strongly preferred Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities and student needs Proven expertise in completing educational evaluations and interpreting diagnostic assessments Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
Complete educational and diagnostic evaluations for students as needed Manage and maintain a caseload of 30-40 students, ensuring tailored support Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in collaboration with staff and families Participate actively in multidisciplinary meetings, providing meaningful input Maintain thorough, timely records and required documentation If you're passionate about empowering students and excel in a collaborative, student-centered environment, this is your chance to make a lasting impact.
