Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding full-time role shaping the success of students with diverse learning needs! This contract position for a dedicated Special Education Teacher offers a dynamic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a supportive school setting near Elizabeth, NJ. Your key responsibilities will include managing a caseload of approximately 30-40 students, providing individualized educational interventions, and completing comprehensive educational evaluations. Flexibility is important; on some days during the first six weeks, your workday may extend to 4:30 p.m., while Fridays could sometimes offer earlier release times—though typically, the schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Your expertise will also be called upon for additional student evaluations as needed, helping to shape academic plans and support services that foster growth and achievement.
Qualifications:
Active New Jersey Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant Certification (required) Prior experience as a Special Education Teacher or Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant Proficiency in conducting and documenting educational evaluations Ability to manage a diverse student caseload and adapt strategies to varied learning needs Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Conduct and report on educational and diagnostic assessments Provide targeted instruction and interventions Collaborate with faculty, staff, and families to support student progress Maintain timely records and ensure compliance with all state and federal special education regulations This is your chance to create positive outcomes for students and put your expertise to work.
