A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Agreement Nature & Scope of Job:
Provides specialized instruction and support to students with learning and/or language disabilities in grades 5-8. Should be able to develop and implement individualised educational programs (IEPs) , deliver standards-based instruction in core academic subjects, foster student independence, and collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure student success in the least restrictive environment.Qualifications:
Appropriate State of NJ Special Education Teacher Certification and Elementary K-6 Endorsement Familiarity with the use of instructional technology as well as differentiated instruction Knowledge of effective/creative instructional strategies Excellent written and oral communication skills, flexibility, and ability to collaborate with colleaguesDescription:
Responsible for implementing instructional strategies and best practices to address various learning levels Foster a nurturing and trusting academic environment Implement the NJSLS in the delivery of daily academic instruction A strong commitment to a high level of student learning Develop learning activities and use differentiated instruction to address the various types of learning Exhibit structured classroom management Use a variety of instructional methodologies and curriculum resources Use varied assessments to drive instruction Collaborate with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities Document and track student performance using various assessments Utilize technology effectively in daily lessons, including gathering and managing student data as required by the district and school administratorApplication Process:
