The Special Education Teacher provides individualized instruction, assessment, curriculum planning, and behavior support while helping students achieve their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and develop greater independence. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with students with autism, experienced with evidence-based teaching practices, and committed to creating a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment. This position works collaboratively with instructional staff, related service providers, families, and campus leadership to support student success. Responsibilities
  • Assess student skills using a variety of assessment tools, including DRDP, Brigance, ABLLS, VB-MAPP, HELP, and other appropriate assessments.
  • Develop IEP goals, present levels of performance, progress summaries, and recommendations based on student strengths and areas of need.
  • Provide individualized instruction in academic, functional, communication, social, and self-help skills aligned with student IEP goals.
  • Monitor student progress through direct observation, data collection, assessments, and ongoing analysis; modify instruction and programming as needed.
  • Develop and adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and lesson plans to meet individual student needs.
  • Implement evidence-based instructional strategies, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), TEACCH, PECS, and other approved methodologies.
  • Support students with daily living skills, including toileting, feeding, hygiene, and personal care needs as appropriate.

  • Valid Moderate/Severe Special Education Teaching Credential required.
  • Current standing with the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) and applicable licensing/certification boards.
