A Special Education Teacher teaches students who have disabilities, and adapts teaching methods to meet the needs of students. Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

Job Description

New Road School of Parlin is seeking a highly self-motivated and creative special education Transition Teacher Experience with students with cognitive and developmental disabilities preferred. Must have Standard New Jersey Certification in Teacher of Students with Disabilities and a Grade Level Certification of
K-6, 5-8.
Must have knowledge of Google Classroom or other remote learning-based programs. Knowledge of Frontline or PowerSchool preferred. The applicant must also be knowledgeable in research based best practice and working with students at multiple academic and social levels. Experience in positive behavioral management techniques and or Crisis Intervention a plus. Experience with students on the autism spectrum a plus.

$55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
