Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Empower students to reach their full potential by supporting learners as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a dynamic school environment near Monument, NM. As a skilled educator, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering specialized instruction and accommodations, helping visually impaired students thrive academically and socially.

Key Qualifications:

Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) Experience working with students who have visual impairments in K-12 settings Solid understanding of Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment Able to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Excellent communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and support staff Flexible, organized, and passionate about inclusive education Comfortable working in a contract-based role for the duration of the school year

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects, compensatory skills, and orientation & mobility as needed Adapt teaching materials and methods to meet individualized student needs Conduct functional vision assessments and contribute to IEP development and progress monitoring Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to create accessible learning environments Guide students in the use of assistive technology and specialized learning devices Engage in ongoing communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress
