Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Take the next step in your special education career with this rewarding contract opportunity as an Intensive Learning Community Lead Teacher in a self-contained K-8 classroom. Located near Rowe, NM, this position is designed for passionate educators who thrive in supportive, structured environments and have experience with students requiring significant accommodations. Beginning August 3, 2026, and extending through June 4, 2027, you'll lead a dedicated classroom of up to 10 students with substantial disabilities, including autism, while overseeing a team of 2-3 aides. Here, fostering growth in communication, social, behavioral, academic, and adaptive skills is paramount, and many students utilize augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Current credentials as a Special Education Teacher Experience working with K-8 students with significant disabilities in a self-contained setting Familiarity with autism support strategies, AAC devices, and individualized teaching methods Strong background in creating structured routines and consistent environments Proven ability to lead, mentor, and support instructional aides Excellent communication, flexibility, organizational skills, and deep commitment to student success
Key Responsibilities:
