Gifted Education & Special Education Resource Teacher (.5/.5 FTE)

Santa Fe, New Mexico About THRIVE Community School THRIVE Community School opened in 2022 as an intentionally diverse public charter school in Santa Fe. Our mission is to create an inclusive, student-centered learning environment where all students are known, valued, and challenged. We are seeking a collaborative, flexible, and student-centered educator to serve in a dual role supporting both gifted learners and students receiving special education services. This position is ideal for a teacher who values inclusive practices, differentiated instruction, and building strong relationships with students and families. Position Overview The Gifted Education & Special Education Resource Teacher will provide academic support, enrichment, and individualized instruction to students in grades K-8. This role includes supporting gifted students through advanced learning opportunities while also serving students with IEPs through resource support, case management, and collaboration with classroom teachers. The teacher will work closely with general education staff, related service providers, and families to ensure all students receive appropriate support, challenge, and access to meaningful learning experiences. Essential Responsibilities Provide direct instruction and support to students with IEPs in small-group settings Serve as a case manager for assigned special education students, including progress monitoring and compliance responsibilities Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations Support gifted learners through enrichment, differentiation, and advanced instructional opportunities Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt instruction and support diverse learning needs Use assessment data to identify student strengths, monitor progress, and guide instruction Foster an inclusive classroom environment with high expectations for all students Participate in IEP, SAT, 504, and gifted eligibility meetings as needed Maintain accurate student records, documentation, and progress reports Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and programming Support students' social-emotional development and self-advocacy skills Collaborate productively with colleagues, families, and administration Attend staff meetings, professional development, and school events as required Participate in school-wide activities and procedures, such as arrival/dismissal, meal and recess duty, and community engagement events. Potential teaching candidates must meet the following requirements by 7/1/26 in order to receive an offer from our team. Bachelor's degree New Mexico state special education teaching licensure in the appropriate content area Gifted Endorsement Criminal background clearance Authorization to work in the United States We have seen that candidates with one or more of the additional qualifications below are uniquely positioned to support our students to succeed: Experience in economically disadvantaged schools, especially if in Special Education Knowledge of New Mexico Common Core and Content Standards Knowledge of the Science of Reading TESOL Certification and/or bilingualism Experience with Direct Instruction and Social-Emotional Learning Strong understanding of educational technology and tools Compensation Package Salary Range Based on education, experience, and level of NM Teaching License. $56,800+ Level 2License:
$68,150+ Level 3License:
