Assesses students and helps to develop individualized education plans that specify the services and accommodations needed for each student. Works in a classroom that includes only students with IEPs, or works with students and teachers in regular classes. For students with severe disabilities, may focus on developing skills for independent living. Works as part of a team that includes therapists, school counselors or social workers.

announces a vacancy for a full-time probationary Special Education Teacher. Our programs offer a highly supportive environment for students with varying disabilities. Our multidisciplinary teams work closely to offer support in the areas of social-emotional learning, academics, communication, and behavior.

Requirements:

Proper NYS Students with Disabilities certification required (SWD 1-6, 5-9, or 7-12) Applicants who recently graduated and that are pursuing NYS Teacher certification are also encouraged to apply Preferred candidates will have dual certification, strong classroom management skills, background in trauma-informed care, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and experience working with a team to implement Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) For more information on Questar III BOCES, please visit www.questar.org.
