Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a lasting difference in the lives of elementary students by providing vital educational support as a Special Education Teacher in a year-round program for grades K-5. This rewarding contract opportunity offers three distinct classroom openings, each focused on serving students within specialized Autism programs. As part of a dedicated and compassionate team, you will use your expertise to foster an inclusive, engaging, and supportive environment. Your day-to-day will include collaborating with colleagues, developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), and helping every child realize their full potential. What you'll need to succeed: New York State certification in Special Education (Students with Disabilities) or progression toward NY State licensure Candidates with a bachelor's degree are encouraged, though a master's degree is preferred Flexibility for consideration if you're newly graduated with a master's or transferring an out-of-state certification Direct experience writing and implementing IEPs Dedication to working with students on the autism spectrum in a supportive educational setting Passion for elementary education and commitment to individualized instruction Your responsibilities will include: Leading instruction and daily routines for one of three programs: K-2 Autism, 1st-3rd Autism, or 3rd-5th Autism Collaborating with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families Creating a welcoming classroom where students thrive both academically and socially Maintaining accurate and up-to-date student records Participating in school-wide initiatives and professional development This contract runs from July 13th, 2026 to June 24th, 2027 and follows a year-round schedule with holiday and spring breaks. The workweek is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, with approximately 35 hours per week. Competitive hourly compensation is available, ranging from $35 to $47 per hour depending on experience and credentials.
