Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Take the next step in your career supporting students as a Special Education Teacher for a contract role in a dynamic educational environment. This position focuses on providing expert instruction to 11th and 12th grade students within an Emotional Disabilities (ED) classroom setting. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact during a 6-8 week assignment, starting in September.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

Active New York State Special Education Teaching license, with all required endorsements and certifications Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher, preferably working with high school students or in Emotional Disabilities (ED) classrooms Strong classroom management and behavioral intervention skills Demonstrated ability to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and deliver differentiated instruction Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, working with staff, administration, and families Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver specialized instruction to 11th and 12th grade students in an ED classroom setting Develop, implement, and adjust IEPs to address the unique needs of each student Assess student progress, adapting strategies as needed to enhance student achievement Collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, school psychologists, counselors, and other support personnel Maintain accurate records, manage classroom routines, and engage positively with parents and guardians Contribute to the overall positive culture and safety of the school community
