Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of students by supporting their educational journey as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This full-time, onsite contract role offers the opportunity to apply your specialized knowledge within a collaborative school environment near Endicott, NY. As a valued educator, you'll ensure that students with visual impairments receive outstanding instruction and resources tailored to their individual needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting Familiarity with adaptive instructional materials, technology, and Braille Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Flexibility and problem-solving abilities in dynamic classroom environments
Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, adapting curriculum as necessary Collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers to support student learning and access Assess students' abilities and needs, maintaining thorough, timely documentation Develop and modify lesson plans and educational materials in accessible formats Provide guidance on accommodations, assistive technology, and classroom modifications Advocate for student needs within the educational setting Participate in IEP meetings and professional development activities This school-based contract position follows the academic calendar for the 2026-2027 school year, with specific details about caseload and daily duties to be provided.
