Job Description

Category Schools - Visually Impaired Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in an onsite, full-time contract role supporting students in the Johnson City, NY area for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. In this rewarding position, you'll collaborate with school staff and families to deliver tailored instruction and advocacy for students who are blind or visually impaired, ensuring access to the general curriculum and facilitating student success.
Qualifications & Experience Needed:
Valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification or appropriate state teaching license Proven expertise in developing and implementing individualized educational plans for students with visual impairments Strong understanding of assistive technology and its application in classroom and resource settings Experience consulting and collaborating with general and special education staff Effectiveness in communicating progress and needs to students, families, and school personnel Passion for fostering independence and maximizing student potential
Key Responsibilities:
Create and adapt instructional materials to meet individual needs of visually impaired students Deliver direct and consultative services to support academic and functional success Assess and document student progress towards IEP goals Provide recommendations for adaptive technology, equipment, and classroom modifications Foster an inclusive learning environment that supports student growth and self-advocacy Serve as a resource for teachers, staff, and families regarding strategies and tools for visual impairments This position offers the opportunity to enhance your experience working in educational settings while making a meaningful difference for students each day.
