Job Description

Category Schools - Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact as an educator specializing in support for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. This full-time, contract opportunity provides a dynamic onsite position within a school setting near Owego, NY, for the 2026-2027 school year. You'll play a vital role in helping students reach their full communication and academic potential by tailoring instruction to their diverse needs.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
New York State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Experience in educational settings with children or adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing Strong skills in developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Familiarity with assistive technology and its integration into the classroom environment Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
Design and deliver instruction that accommodates students' language and learning preferences Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff Monitor student progress, adapting strategies as needed to promote success Advocate for student accommodations, inclusion, and access to resources Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and educational technology Complete and maintain essential documentation in compliance with school and state standards
