Job Description

Responsibilities:
  • Teach Catholic Theology/Religious courses in accordance with diocesan and school curriculum guidelines
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that foster critical thinking and theological understanding
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods to meet the diverse learning needs of students
  • Assess student learning through various methods, including tests, essays, projects and presentations
  • Integrate Catholic doctrine and tradition into classroom instruction
  • Facilitate discussions on contemporary ethical and moral issues from a Catholic perspective
  • Encourage students and staff to develop a personal relationship with Christ and the Church
  • Provide instruction on scripture, sacraments and Church history
  • Work with members of the Theology department and Director of Campus Ministry to develop and participate in Masses, retreats, elementary school visits and visits to area churches
  • Provide students with guidance on service projects and opportunities
  • Monitor and collect service hour information from students
  • Stay current with developments in Catholic theology and pedagogy
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Theology or related field (Master's preferred)
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church
  • Teaching experience at the middle school or high school level
  • Strong understanding of Catholic doctrine and tradition
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexible, adaptable with the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and parents
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of Catholic education
  • Professional, positive, and collaborative attitude
Salary:
