Job Description

Responsibilities:
Purpose of Your Position Perform all non-instructional duties for assigned student under the general supervision of certified special education teacher according to the recommendation of the referring school district and as stated on the IEP (Individualized Education Plan). Job Functions Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of this position. However, it in no way states or implies that these are the only duties you will be required to perform. Understands and promotes Elizabeth Seton Children's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure application with organizational policies and procedures. Be knowledgeable about assigned student's IEP (goals, present levels of performance and behavioral / management needs) Remain in close physical and visual proximity to student at all times during all school activities; anticipate and respond to individual needs of assigned student as directed by the teacher Transport student to and from school; making sure they are seated securely and have all necessary adapted equipment in working order Assist assigned student in physical care tasks and health related activities including therapeutic feeding, toileting and positioning in adapted equipment Participate in planning activities based on assigned student's IEP to encourage appropriate independence and facilitate / support student's participation in all classroom activities Communicate appropriately with parents and related service staff under the direction of the teacher Carry out standards for customer service; quality improvement; professional development; environmental, safety and infection control practices; confidentiality, corporate compliance and all other Elizabeth Seton Children's Schoolpolicies and procedures; attend all mandatory in-services to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices in working with students and their families Perform other tasks to support the operations of the school as assigned by School Administration.
Qualifications:
Education Requirements:
High school degree; Bachelor's Degree preferred
Experience:
Experience with children with special needs
Employee Requirements:
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies Must meet the general health requirements set fourth by the policies of this School which includes a medical and physical examination Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the student's blood/body fluids Must be able to assist in the evacuation of students, if necessary
Working Conditions:
Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area Will be subject to frequent interruptions May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary
Hourly Rate:
$20.22/Hr.
