Job Description
Kendal at Oberlin is a full-service life plan community, which primarily serves older adults in the Quaker tradition. Residents are assured a lifetime of healthcare including short- and long-term nursing services, memory care and assisted living. Equally important, residents enjoy an independent, enriching living experience. Kendal at Oberlin's Early Learning Center is currently seeking a creative and enthusiastic full-time Lead Teacher. Our program is NAEYC-accredited and features unique intergenerational programming, giving children the special opportunity to learn and grow alongside our beloved Grandfriends who live on campus. The Lead Teacher will play a key role in shaping the minds and hearts of young learners by creating a caring, consistent, and engaging classroom environment. The teacher will prepare materials for curriculum and learning experiences in lesson plans while providing a safe and accepting educational environment. Further responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Planning and adapting a creative curriculum based on what most preschoolers should know and be able to do. Assess children's development and learning through collecting samples of children's drawings and writings and adding to the children's portfolios. Paying attention to and supporting children's interests, skills and knowledge. Learn and support all KELC curricula such as Conscious Discipline by setting clear limits for children's behavior and explain reasons.
Qualifications and Experience:
A minimum of three years' experience working with children 2-5 years old. Must have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Special Education. Current First Aid, CPR, Communicable Disease and Child Abuse Recognition certifications or must obtain within first 90 days. Familiarity or training in Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline is a plus. A genuine love for working with children and a commitment to preparing them for kindergarten. Must be able to take children outside in cold weather. Must be able to lift children, if needed, weighing 30-50 pounds.Similar jobs in Oberlin, OH
