Key Qualifications:
Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired Ability to provide comprehensive Orientation and Mobility services Strong understanding of individualized education programs and adaptive strategies Experience collaborating with general education staff, therapists, and families Adaptable and resourceful, able to individualize instruction for varying levels of visual impairment Outstanding communication and organizational abilities
Responsibilities:
Deliver direct instructional support and specialized formats to students with visual impairments within school settings Conduct Orientation and Mobility training to equip students with essential travel and navigation skills Assess student abilities to develop and implement personalized education plans in partnership with IEP teams Collaborate with educators, support staff, and families to facilitate accessibility and inclusion Maintain accurate records and progress documentation Advocate for students' needs while fostering self-advocacy and independence
