Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact this summer by guiding students with special needs in a supportive, engaging environment. Multiple contract opportunities are available for dedicated Special Education Teachers during the Extended School Year (ESY) program. You'll support elementary or middle school students in life skills, autistic support, and learning/emotional support roles, depending on your strengths and interests. This rewarding assignment runs from June 29th through July 30th, Monday through Thursday, with varying hours by position:
Elementary Life Skills/Autistic Support:
8:30 AM-1:30 PM (K-2 or 3-5th grade, based on enrollment)
Middle School Life Skills/Autistic Support:
8:00 AM-1:00 PM (6-8th grade)
Elementary Learning Support/Emotional Support:
8:30 AM-11:00 AM What you'll bring: Valid Special Education Teacher certification Strong skills in differentiating instruction for diverse learners Experience with elementary or middle school populations preferred Compassion, adaptability, and a proactive approach to classroom management Collaborative spirit—eager to work with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families Understanding of IEP implementation and progress monitoring You'll be responsible for: Providing individualized and small group instruction in life skills, autistic support, or learning/emotional support classrooms Developing and adapting instructional materials to meet students' goals Creating a positive, inclusive learning environment Tracking student progress and maintaining timely communication with team members Supporting students' social, emotional, and academic growth during the summer session Contribute to a nurturing learning community and make a visible difference in students' lives this ESY!
