Job Description

Our perfect candidate is a Special Education Teacher. This candidate should be prepared to work in a public charter school that specializes in meeting the needs of students with special needs. Each classroom has a very low student to teacher ratio along with paraprofessional assistance. We offer a unique curriculum that blends high school graduation requirements with a Transition program to prepare our students for life after high school. Spectrum Charter School is a positive work environment with a great team of professionals. Our school is moving into a new building this school year (1740 Golden Mile Highway Monroeville, PA). The duties and responsibilities of our teacher are: Timely preparation of applicable special education documents. Plan, organize, and participate in IEP meetings Implement student IEP's by teaching toward those IEP goals Complete data collection daily and/or per IEP goal to continuously monitor progress and make intervention decisions based on analysis of that data Assess students' needs and make recommendations for related services, supplemental aids, and assistive technology Conduct annual academic, functional, vocational, behavioral assessments as appropriate Satisfactory performance in teaching domains: planning and preparation, classroom environment, instruction, and professional responsibilities Timely development and submissions of Evaluation Report's, lesson plans, report cards, classroom schedule and other assignments from supervisor Attend all school functions as needed which are held evenings and/or weekends Communication with parents daily through notebooks, phone calls, and face-to-face conferences as appropriate Maintain special education certification Overall, we are looking for an innovative and creative individual who is future-focused and committed to joining our team of educators.
